Reconvalescence

3/5/2015

The doctors were positive from very first visit. The concerns were torn knee ligaments, however neither of the two tears required surgical procedure. It was demonstrated in the subsequent days that my body was capable of very efficient regeneration, resulting in much faster healing than had been initially expected.

Slowly but sure I was able to begin with minor movements, and mostly excersice of my upper body. When it came time to work my legs, the first hurtle to tackle was the starionary bicycle. I progressed quickly under the supervision of specialists, and within a short period of I was able to get back onto a pair of skis. The feeling of finally being on skis again and gunnig down the General – sloppe starting just bellow Maly Zavrat saddle in Velka Studena Dolina in High Tatras - was priceless, especially after all that lack in movement in the preceding weeks.

In the last few days of healing I have made further solid progress in my recovery, being able to get back to my slalom skis. The most incredible, and fortunate aspect of all of this was really the lack of pain I felt throughout my recovery, and the effortlessnes via which I progressed. I am happy to say that I can continue to push myself more and more in training as a result.
